Citizen Planners advancing historic preservation and Phila2035

Citizen Planner Tonnetta Graham helped get the historic trolley loop (now a bus loop) at 33rd & Dauphin restored instead of being torn down. Now she's a community liaison for the Historic Preservation Citizen Engagement Project! (Image courtesy of PlanPhilly).

Citizen Planners are an important part of Mayor Kenney’s Historic Preservation Task Force!

Graduates from our Citizens Planning Institute are community liaisons for the Historic Preservation Citizen Engagement project, led by PennPraxis.

Citizen Planners and their organizations are hosting community conversations about historic preservation.

They will also test out a new toolkit that explains how historic preservation works so all communities can be involved.

These are the Citizen Planners involved in the project:

  • Philippa (Pip) Campbell (Fall 2014) - Center City

  • Quibila A. Divine (Spring 2011) - Nicetown/Tioga

  • Miguel Garces (Fall 2014) - Point Breeze

  • Shannon Garrison (Spring 2017) - Queen Village/Bella Vista

  • Tonnetta Graham (Fall 2012) - Strawberry Mansion

  • Lorraine Gomez (Fall 2016) - East Parkside

  • Mary McGettigan (Fall 2013) - Spruce Hill

  • Meeka Outlaw (Fall 2011) - Grays Ferry

  • Don Simon (Spring 2014) - Roxborough/Manayunk

Note: There are additional neighborhoods with liaisons who are not Citizen Planners.
